Also Public Provident Fund (PPF) is one of the most popular investment options in India. Its important features are as under:
(i) Investment offers tax saving benefit under section 80C, also interest earned and maturity are also exempted from tax.
ii) The scheme has a lock-in period of 15 years. However, scheme also offers loan and partial withdrawals.
iii) Post maturity, the account can be extended in block of five years for any number of times.
iv) The interest rate is reviewed by the the Government every quarter.
v) PPF account can be opened in any Bank giving such facility.
vi) Deposit up to 5th Day of Month are counted for interest for deposit.
